There is no need for the Fair Work ombudsman to carry out a national audit of community pharmacies, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia believes.
Responding to a call from employee pharmacist union, APESMA, for the industrial relations watchdog to investigate pharmacies following the results of an audit of 500 stores in Queensland last year, Kos Sclavos (pictured), Guild national president, said most pharmacists were being paid at or above the Pharmacy Industry Award 2010 rates.
Mr Sclavos accused APESMA of misrepresenting the findings of the Queensland audit, which took place in June.
As reported by Pharmacy News which found 44 per cent of 575 employers were not fully compliant with the 2010 award.
